i already hate this winter and it is only january. what am i going to do?!? it's cold, it's dark, my tree's been hauled to the curb, and as if the regular old january doldrums weren't enough, we're currently smack in the middle of the worst flu season since the one that nearly took out edward cullen.
look, i'm not trying to be a germaphobe here (hah, actually...), but huck and i are not so interested in this influenza nonsense. and it. is. everywhere! literally! there is no safe place from this flu, not even online. if i read one more tweet about how you're dying in bed, i swear it. ;) i feel like imma catch something from my instagram feed alone! pestilence! pestilence!
but there is something to love in every situation, even in the dead of winter in the middle of plague season. and as i like to tell myself from time to time, the beauty lies in how you spin it. so here are some winter "necessities" i dreamed up for all the mamas and the bebés, fortified with extra germy precautions, to help us all enjoy this ridiculousness in style and comfort. after all, you can never be too careful. nor too cozy. ;)

for bebé:
"if one more blogger links to that pia wallen blanket i might pop!" says everyone, everywhere.
some things i wrote for babble this week:
(including my tutu from alt summit last year!)
and in the great beauty experiment:

This post is adorable & sweet and that's coming from someone who usually cringes at "stuff" posts.
ReplyDelete"the worst flu season since the one that nearly took out edward cullen." funny girl.
oh, and about that pia wallen blanket... thanks for calling a spade a spade. ;)
Love all these ideas. CUTE! I have similar feelings about this winter...but it is raining in Ohio today instead of snowing so I guess I can't complain.
ReplyDeleteYou Had to Be There
I'm a sickling right now! Thanks for the list hehe
ReplyDeleteCarlkatie.blogspot.com
cute list, but girlfriend it is not even cold in new york right now! we might get to 60 on Sunday!
ReplyDeletei just got back from utah where it was four degrees! i'm still thawing out!
Deleteand heck yes it is cold! anything under 55 is too cold for me! ;)
DeleteOhhhh I wish everyone would stop posting about lying in bed from the flu. It makes my inner hypochondriac flare up.
ReplyDeleteI'll add to your selection a bit of sunshine and less snow here in Canada...thank you very much... LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteMy situation: http://www.newhomecanada.blogspot.ca/2012/12/canada-o-inverno.html
xo
This most made me chuckle, gotta say. My flu strategy is eating oranges like they're going out of style. That works right? Right?!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely checking into that tea. Don't forget to take some Vitamin C. I work at a hospital and got over whatever was going around on only large amount of Vitamin C and probiotics.
ReplyDeleteit's rife here in the uk too. i mean people tweeting about how sick they are. oh but flu is rife too.
ReplyDeleteso far bebe and i have avoided it but i know it's only a matter of time despite my ready supply of hand gel and wipes and tactical "come play over here" {read: get away from that sick kid, he's clearly riddled} manoeuvres.
*reaches for large glass of orange juice in feeble attempt to bolster immune system*

i'm hating the cold too. and baby boy and i are in hibernation trying to avert the flu!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Though I'd wear those shoes when I wasn't sick too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat design tool did you use to create the image?
If only I could curl up in that blanket and watch some Downton right now!
ReplyDeleteBaies is the BEST candle ever - did you know they do it as a perfume called L'ombre dans l'eau. I have it and I get compliments every time I wear it!!! I have a Jo Malone candle at the moment, it's such a treat!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you see the Downton Christmas Special? Not so Christmassy and not so special, eh?
I am so with ya on not talking about the (shhhh!) germs anymore. But I could go on and on about Downton Abbey- the snoogies there at a safe distance via the televion screen. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (I think it came out last year) stars Isobel Crawley (and Mcgonagall and Scrimgeour!!) A must see if you've ahem. Finished. watching Downton.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Ooo I love everything.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the candle and the blanket, please! That looks like all the ingredients for a very cozy time :)
ReplyDeleteagree 100% don't know how i'd survive the winter without those things...especially Downton!
ReplyDeleteIs there anything better than Downton Abbey?!?!! No, no there is not.
ReplyDeleteExcept perhaps that tutu.
So perfect that you included the Walt Disney Treasures Donald Duck! I pulled volume 4 out of my Disney collection for my 2 year old about a month ago and he loooves it! He even requests his favorite cartoons by name ("New Neighbor" and "Trick or Treat"). Gotta love a Disney Family!
ReplyDeleteYay! I've missed your Babble posts! :)
ReplyDeletehydra stick is a must!!
ReplyDeleteOh girl, the Edward Cullen comment, thumbs up! DUDE. Want to hear something funny? I just found out that there's a big flu deal going on YESTERDAY. I live in a cloud of ignorance apparently....
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I have survived so far but I am with you on thinking I'll catch something any minute now.
ReplyDeleteGet a flu shot.
ReplyDeleteOh No! Nat I love your blog, but those links ... are you getting paid to promote these items? I'd be fine with it if you at least mentioned that to begin with. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteno i'm not getting paid! i honestly thought it would be fun to put something like this together! yikes.
DeleteOK, good to know. Thanks!
DeleteIf I was dropping $240 on sheepskin boots I would wear the heck out of them and not just at home or a quick deli run. No shame in Uggs, no matter what the Internet says.
ReplyDeletejust love the way you write! even a quick n' dirty post like this. great picks.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog fat rat and I just have to say I laughed pretty hard and the edward cullen bit! funny
