"Here are a few photos of my Japanese masking tape Christmas tree. (Good for a rental!)"

"My Christmas tree is not beautiful.
It is not big,
or does it have fancy twinkling lights.
But for its very un-beautiful, un-bigness, un-twinkleness,
it brings me a lot of Christmas Cheer.
The reason is this:
I am currently living in Egypt where Christmas is not celebrated.
The shops do not sell Christmas decorations, or play Christmas music.
There is no snow, and no chestnuts roasting over the open fire
(indeed it would be too warm for such a thing).
But the other day in all my excitement I passed one of the bargain stores selling mini-fake Christmas trees.
I can't tell you what this did for my Christmas cheer!
And so, although it may not have any presents to go underneath it,
it did cost the equivalent of $1.25 . . .
and bargains make me happy too."

I think that masking tape Christmas tree is genius!
ReplyDeleteI may even try it next year for my office window at work.
Have a very Merry Christmas
Thanks for linking to my blog! And it's about time to update that header with even more pictures of unhappy boys. We have a tradition of taking horrible pictures, as you can see if you look at the tag failed photo shoot. But isn't that life?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nat! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thanks for the shout! And in the company of some fabulous trees, I might add. Loving that tape tree. Merry Christmas slash 5th night of lights :)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally doing that masking tape tree next year. The Hubs is convinced that the live tree makes it hard for him to breath. But what is breathing for the sake of Christmas??
ReplyDeletep.s. I love that menorrah.
