GIVEAWAAAAAAAAY!!

Did you like that? That was my best Oprah impression.

Now, let us not confuse: This here silly blog is not a giveaway blog. I mean, I just wouldn't know the first thing about that, would you? And anyway, I like to feel like those of us in here, you know, we're kind of a rag tag army of idealists or something. You know, here for the whatever. Or not. I don't know what I'm saying, really. Except that to give away via contest, now, that is not my calling in this lovely world of Internettal musings. Don't you agree? So, don't you worry. But maybe that doesn't matter? Does that matter? Now I am growing confused.

But it turns out I can be swayed, as the good people at the Casual Blogger Conference have asked me if I'd be willing to give away a full ticket to the conference to one of my readers. They happen to agree with me and think that you guys are pretty rad, and that it would be really great to have you at the conference. Isn't that cool? And it turns out, I'm kind of a pushover when people flatter my readers. I mean, can you blame me? So I basically bent over backwards and said, Yes! Oh yes! Anything you say! And it was only afterward that I wondered, But can my readers ever take me seriously, ever again, if I host a giveaway? Until I remembered, When have I ever wanted any-flapping-body to take me seriously in the first place?

I hope I am effectively conveying unto you the process that took place within my head spaces over this.

So, and enjoy this because it isn't likely to happen much ever again, today I have a present for you! Today I am giving away one full conference pass to the 2010 Casual Blogger Conference! Taduhhhh!

Here is the part wherein I tell you why you might be interested. Please pay attention.

The conference takes place over Memorial Day Weekend (May 28-29) in Salt Lake City (more specifically, in Sandy, which is where The Holbs and The Rat first lived as newlyweds. Cute, right?) Over the two days there will be really interesting sessions taught by some of the your favorite bloggers, on topics such as photography, photo editing, finding your voice, growing your readership, advertising possibilities, where to find writing inspiration, how to write about grief, and -- I just have to mention it -- blogging about faith.

(Did you know that I'm on that panel for blogging about faith?)
(I TOTALLY AM.)

There will be a concert given by Mindy Gledhill (Do you know of Mindy Gledhill? Talk about an ethereal voice!) and a scrapbooking Girl's Night with Teresa Collins, if scrapbooking calls to you in such a way. Not to mention a keynote given by the very fascinating White Oprah herself, Miss Courtney Jane Kendrick. (If I am not interestingness enough for you, you should please consider coming just for the Janer.)

Perhaps the best part of all is, this is a conference for us. You know, us who blog because we love to write, us who love to meet people who share our passions and goals, us who have no dreams of Internetly World Domination . . . just us.

Also, I really want to meet you. I do!

Here is how you can win.

Comment below and answer one of the following,

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?
b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?
c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?
d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?
e) Favorite bagel?
f) Something else super interesting!

You can enter as many times as you want! Whatever! The heck with it!

I'll have The Holbs pick the winning comment. He will either do it based on whomever has the most interesting/entertaining comment, or based on whatever number he feels good about at the moment, or maybe he'll concoct a thorough Excel spreadsheet and do some weirdo mathematical formula to determine the winner, I don't know, he is a nerd after all.

Contest is open all weekend and I will post the winner on Monday. Do not neglect to make your email information known if you win, for somewhat obvious reasons.

Pretty easy, right?

If you would like a second chance to win,
go HERE
and sign up for the CBC newsletter.
(And follow @cbconference on Twitter,
if you are of the Twittering nature.)
The CBC folks will use the newsletter subscriptions
to draw another winner,
only I am not sure when.
So do it NOW!

If you would like a third chance to win,
you are so in luck.
My friend Sue
(who you love, you just don't know it yet)
is ALSO giving away a ticket.
So get your bum over there!
Her entry rules probably aren't as awesome as mine.
But what can you really do about that?
Not that this is an awesomeness competition.
Nope.

If you would like to attend the conference and do not wish to leave it to the fates above, use this link HERE to purchase your ticket, pretty please. (Did you know it is only $175 for this conference? I know, does that boggle the mind or what?) I will be providing this link at the top of every post I write from now until a while from now, which is to say, I haven't thought that part through all the way.

There. I've done it!
Well, get to entering!

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?

Navy blue.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?

Mini for sure because you can fit more in your hand and you get more!

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?

Last.

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?

I would be mousse because its the underdog of hair products.

e) Favorite bagel?

The everything bagel yum!

f) Something else super interesting!

There is a guy in my human resources class that looks like your holbshusband. Except he is of the blond variety. He has a very brooding voice and was in the Navy. I like to pretend he's the holbsbrotha. And I just hope in my heart of hearts that The Holbs doesn't have a high pitched voice.

Oh I wish Wish WISH I could go. So much. If only it weren't on the other side of the world. So I'm not going to enter. Except, I really want to join in the fun. So I'm going to answer the questions anyway.

a) Charcoal, because it's not boring black but still slimming to the thigh region.
b) Full size, all the way. Mini ones don't have the same flavour.
c) Crusts first. Save the best for last.
d) Leave in conditioner, to make your hair silky smooth. (OK, I really don't know what I mean by that).
e) I'm going to say cheese, but I've never tried any other kind so maybe it's not true...
f) Orange in German is Orange!

I repeat. This is not an entry. Sadly :(

I am with Sarah -- I could not get to Salt Lake if I tried...so this is for fun!

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?
b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?
c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?
d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?
e) Favorite bagel?
f) Something else super interesting!

are we looking for answers that fit the everyday? I am going with my dream world.
a) hypercolour would be super fun, I'd say...Though maybe the sweaty bum would get gross. So, um. Red, I guess.
b) mini -- mini -- mini!! That way I can eat MORE! You know, like the pizza cut into four or eight. I'd rather have it cut in eight and eat two slices, than only get one with it cut in four...just more fun and longer lasting!
c)first and last. so long as i don't cut the sandwich in half! Crust on the way in...and crust on the way out.
d)OH mousse for sure. suits my personality: light and fluffy...
e)everything!! everything -- with herb and garlic cream cheese! mmm.
f)my baby girl will be one in just a few weeks...is that interesting? no? oh...
a)

I am a sucker for lists about myself. And I also cannot go because one of my best friends is birthdaying on the 30th and that Sunday is reserved for her party. So early! She's organized. But I want to list.
a) Yoga pants = blaaaaack; leggings = also black, random sweatpants = ANY color
b) Marshmallows ick me out now that I don't eat gelatin. Sad right? But I used to be a mini girl.
c) First, so the last bite is all middle-y goodness.
d) Conditioner
e) Everything, and I like the tops best, scooped out so not so bready, toasted, with reduced fat cream cheese.
f) I saved Gertie the Goldfish's life on Wednesday. It may or may not be my fault that she was near death.

I also can't go, being over the pond, but I'm going to enter anyway. Just for the funsies.

a. Grey pants

b. Depends, mini marshmallows rule and I don't feel so inflated after eating them, but they're rubbish to toast at campfires

c. I eat the crusts first, because my nan always told me to eat what you don't like first so you have the nice food left. I think this was a cunning ploy to get me to eat my veggies when I was younger

d. Ummm... Hair dye, because I'm alwys vibrant at the start of the day but by bed time I've dulled down a bit

e. Bagel? Hmmm.... I like cinnamon bagels. With Cream cheese. And ham.

f. I managed to end up in hospital once after dislocating my knee doing the Time Warp.

Well, I can go and I'd LOVE to, so:

a) Black because at least it's slimming so I don't have to feel like a fat slob wearing them!
b) TOTALLY Mini-Marshmallows, unless you're trying to make smores.
c) I eat the crusts first if it's a sandwhich that I made (which is a strange distinction, I fully realize)
d) I once had this pomade that smelled like marshmallows, and it was just delightful. I think I could handle that.
e) Onion! and Sourdough, but mostly onion
f) I have a shih-tzu named Georgie who is curiously like Peter Pan and Barnaby combined. I know you don't think it's possible, but the poor guy is somewhat schizophrenic.

Sarahf said...

I have no way of getting over to Salt Lake City from here. Truth be told, I'm not altogether sure where it is. I'll Google it later ;D I'll have a go anyway, for the fun of it.
1) Grey, it reminds me of the cut off sweat tops they always seem to wear in 80s teen movies.
2) Big marshmallows are great for toasting on a campfire. One of my favourite summer activites.
3) Inside first. Until I bought a nifty thing that cuts them off for the ultimate "English tea" experience. When I do that, I eat the crusts while still standing in the kitchen, before sitting down and channelling Jane Austen.
4) The killer serum stuff that actually defrizzes my Einstein hair. It would feel good to be worshipped by the curly haired all over the world.
5) Plain bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Hmmmm
6)I'm moving in with some friends in a few weeks and I am so excited that the new place is proper Japanese style and has a tatami room. So excited.

a) My favorite color for sweat pants is....a lovely dark grey...goes with any one of my outrageous collection of t-shirts collected on vacations or through participation in stuff!

Angie said...

b) I prefer a large handful of mini mallows, please!

C & A said...

a)Navy, baby.
b)Large so you can toast, eat the outside toast again, repeat.
c)Inside first. I know that C loves me because he often gives me the best bite!
d)Organic hair glue because it makes frizz depart and shiny blossom with class.
e)I cut and polished my own granite countertops (those hours of polishing!!!) and I built a 4 ft stained glass window after reading a book (those bandaids on the end of every finger!) Proof: http://recursively.blogspot.com/2010/01/they-were-watching-us-like-hawks_01.html for stained glass and countertops are here: http://recursively.blogspot.com/2009/06/recent-projects_07.html :D

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?

Dark Grey. They make my thighs looks skinnier. Really.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?

I prefer mine homemade. Gotcha on that one! I'll even make the Holbs some if that'll increase my chances of winning.

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?

I eat my sandwiches by starting at one corner and mouthing it to the next. If I split my sandwich into triangles, it depends on my mood. Sometimes the crusts first, and then the meaty part last or vice versa.

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?

Oh definitely NOT that Tom Thumb (AKA Safeway) brand hair mousse I saw on the clearance aisle last night. Can you believe this--it was on the 50% off clearance shelf and when I looked to see what the regular price was it said $8.99!! Have you got to be kidding me?? What a rip off.

So I'd guess I'd be Aussie brand hairspray because it smells good. And probably costs less than Safeway brand mousse. Because I am NOT a ripoff.

e) Favorite bagel?

Cinnamon with homemade strawberry cream cheese. Seriously sinful. I always get my bagels at Mrs Bairds outlet which means I usually get a whole bag of them for a buck. That should make The Holbs mighty proud.

f) Something else super interesting!

I have a pointed left year. I am double jointed in many places including some places I can't show. I can fit inside a suitcase. I have a twin brother that can bend his knees backward. I can burp on command.

Angie said...

c) When eating my favorite sandwich (peanut butter and honey is the best!) I eat the part of the sandwich with the top crust first, then chow all the way to the end!

Angie said...

d) I would be smoothing serum....just cuz!

Angie said...

e) A whole wheat bagel with a Honey Almond shmear!! Ohhhhhhh yummy!

I'd love to go to Utah! I'm kind of still really new to blogging, so it would be a fun experience to go and get some insight from people who have been doing it longer. I don't know if I could afford the airfare though, being a college student and all. But what the heck, I'll enter anyway, maybe I'll get lucky and win the lottery tonight! Here goes!

a) Gray sweatpants, because that seems to be the only color I can ever find.
b) Mini marshmallows! because you can put them in/on anything and everything, like sweet potatoes with marshmallows and pecans. My favorite is an english muffin, toasted, with peanut butter and mini marshmallows on it. The peanut butter and the marshmallows get all melty and gooey and delicious.
c) I eat the insides of my sandwich first, then the crusts. It just tastes better that way.
d) Hmmm, I'd have to say if I were a hair care product I would be the deep conditioner that I use once a month. It leaves my hair so nice and silky!
e) Pumpernickel bagel, toasted, with cream cheese and fresh strawberries.
f) Hmm, something interesting. Well, ever since I was old enough to read I thought that the "DO NOT PASS" signs on the road meant "do not pass this sign, or something bad will happen". Silly me! Also, I can play several instruments. Flute, cello, guitar, drums, voice. I guess that's interesting?

Angie said...

f) I can fit my whole fist in my mouth....seriously! That's pretty interesting, right?? :) Thanks for hosting a great give-away! Just getting into the blogging world and would love to attend my first blogging event and meet some of the awesome people who inspired this leap into a new adventure! Thanks again!

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?

Grey. No real reason, it's just nice and neutral.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?

Full-size. If you "lick 'em and stick 'em" to your family member's windshields, they take less time than mini's do, and leave more of a gooey mess.

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?

I guess first, but I've never really thought about it. Now, I suppose I will.

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?

One of those hair color sprays in a can. It lets you change your hair color for a day, then washes out! Then again, it's a nightmare to get *completely* out, so.....

e) Favorite bagel?

I recently had a pizza bagel at Einstein Bros. It was good, so I'm going to go with that.

f) Something else super interesting!

I recently joined Twitter for the sole reason of supporting Conan O'Brien, but it turns out I have a few friends on there, as well.

ahh bear said...

It cracks me up how many people commented b/c they like a good quiz but can't get to SLC!!! ME NEITHER!!! But I also love a good quiz so here goes ...

a) grey. always grey ... because you can wash them a million times and they still look good unlike navy or black (which would be my preferred colors if they washed better)
b) mini if I'm baking, large if I'm making s'mores over the campfire
c) first. it's never been my favorite part of the sandwich so I eat it first and then I'm only left with my favorite part! similarly, I always saved my favorite Halloween candy to eat last.
d) Revlon Outrageous Shampoo! They sold it when I was in high school ... discontinued it and for the past couple of years my friend has been sending it to me from Canada but I think that it might be completely gone now. It is terrible on your hair but smells AMAZING!
e)Blueberry Bagel from Dunkin Donuts - toasted with cream cheese. Only they discontinued it. Nice. Otherwise poppy seed.
f) I skipped 7th grade!

Thanks for letting us play along!!

My favorite color of sweat pants is black--you know for the slimming factor. Is there such a thing? Slimming factor in sweat pants?

Anyway, I posted about your giveaway on my site. Sue told me about you. :)

DangGina said...

a) BLACK sweat pants are my fave, because I'm usually feeling quite pudgy when I break 'em out, and black is most slimming. (That makes complete sense, am I right? Slimming sweats?)

b) Mini marshmallow or bust. They're just cute, and I swear they taste better.

c) When eating a sandwich, I eat the crust whenever it hits my mouth. It's usually the first AND the last part I eat.

d) DangGina, the hair product: I'd be a new concoction that makes baby-fine hair look luminous and sexy. And also, I'd make it smell divine. It would probably simply be called: "Dang, Gina!"

e) My favorite bagel in the wide world is a little something called a Cinnamon Toast Bagel. Only I don't know where to find them any more, as the only place I've ever had them was when I was schooling in Logan. Ouch...now my heart hurts.

f) Something else super interesting? Oh great, now I'm stuck...Umm...the dessert section in my recipe box is thicker than all the other recipes combined. Also, since we're on the topic of cooking, I have this horrible habit of making new foods WHEN COMPANY COMES TO DINE; somehow the meals have always turned out (thank goodness!), but I've been known to destroy the aych out of a dessert or two. (So WHY is my dessert section biggest? I'm stumped...)

DangGina said...

PS It'd be really dynamite if I won, and the reasons are threefold:

1) I won't be going to the CBC if I don't score me a free ticket.

2) I need to get the aych out of dodge (SE Idaho; you have to understand!)

and

3)I hear winning is a truly spectacular feeling!

Crust is always last. I love crust. When the sacrament tray is being passed down the aisle, I'm always scoping out the crustiest piece of bread, and even if I have to reach around all weirdly and the person next to me is like, "what? just pick a piece and keep passing!" I am not deterred.

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?
I actually only have one pair of sweat pants and they are maroon..with a bleach spot...is that not the saddest thing ever! I do however, have a varied assortment of yoga pants in many various colors. Greys and greens and blues. No pink or red though because my hair is red and that just tends to clash.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?
Marshmallows just can not come in a bad size...but don't you think?

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?
This naturally depends on what type of sandwich you are eating!

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?
Root volumizer! Definitely. Not the sticky kind but the good kind that doesn't let your hair go flat after a few hours...

e) Favorite bagel?
All bagels are my favorite, I simply don't think there is a bad bagel. Ever. I do love everything bagels though. They're like the bagel choice for the terminally confused.

f) Something else super interesting!
I wonder if I win a ticket if I can even talk my fiance into letting me go to this. Le Sigh. Perhaps I can start a petition?

Also I just read all the comments on here to learn new and better ways to eat bagels.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size? Deoesn't really matter... they are both good... and if you buy them covered in toasted coconut, all the better! ;)

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all? I eat the crusts first... peel them from around the edges!

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be? Aqua net, purple can. It's all about the 80's hair... and my 80's hair was fab thanks to this product!

e) Favorite bagel? Sesame bagel with honey nut cream cheese! Great, now I'm hungry.

f) Something else super interesting! So I totally want to win this. I am an anonymous chubby mom blogger who struggles with weight and blogs about it... but I would totally come out of hiding for the chance to go to a blogger conference!

I don't have plans to go to the conference, but if I won a ticket I'd be a lot more likely to make every effort to be there. :) So here's my shot.

a) I prefer charcoal gray sweat pants because it's not as dull as black, but still slimming and goes with nearly anything. But honestly, I'd take any color because sweat pants are just the best thing ever! Why aren't they more attractive??

b) Minis are the best mallows because they fit into my hot cocoa mugs much better. Plus they're just too stinkin' cute anyway. Seriously. The big marshmallows should be reserved for campfire smores only. Otherwise, it's just inconvenient.

c) I prefer to eat the crust first because I hate to waste it - thanks, Mom, for teaching me it's sinful to waste - but I definitely want to save the best part for last... which is the middle, of course.

d) I'd be Amp Shampoo because it makes my hair seem voluminous, but still soft and wavy and sexy... something that's hard to achieve with my baby-fine hair. *sigh* But the shampoo helps. :) It's the only semi-expensive shampoo I'll allow myself to buy.

e) I love trying new bagels and bagel toppings because, honestly, how can you go wrong with a bagel? But I do love cinnamon.

f) Interesting? I'm turning 26 on Monday. Hooray! I love birthdays! And for someone so young I've really lived through a lot. (Does that sound weird?) I should probably write a book someday. But for now... I'll blog.

Do we leave our email address here???

Like Sarah, I’m new-ish to blogging, too, and could afford some expertise-ical advice on the matter (please don’t judge me on my overuse of hyphenates). Plus! I’ve never been to Utah! (does pitying me help my chances of winning?). Truly and heartily, I can’t imagine a more fun thing to attend, so pray enjoy my answers (pardon their largesse):

a) Regarding sweatpants, I am decently embarrassed to say that all of mine are from the Pink line at Victoria’s Secret, meaning they’re all bright (yellow, purple, orange, and pink) with either the word “Pink” or a small silhouette of a dog on the seat of the pants. (Wow, shoulda left that detail out, mm? There went my chances. Wham, bam, thank ya, ma’am. At least my husband doesn’t make fun of them. To my face.)

b) Marshmallows, huh? I can’t say I’m a fan of the large or mini as much as I’m a fan of Marshmallow Fluff! Have you ever tried such a heavenly spread? Have you ever heard the words “heavenly” and “spread” used in the same sentence? I’m a fool for fluff. However, in preschool (how I remember this, I don’t know), I used to put sheets on all the nap-time mattresses in return for marshmallows. Not the only time I got bribed with food to do chores…

c) First of all, the word sandwich makes me hungry, so I’d better go get me one before answering this question. Alright, sandwich in hand. Good. Um, I guess I kinda just eat the crusts how they come to me, you know? I eat a sandwich ravenously and without pause. Is it a bad sign that I don’t calculate my bites better? Gosh, I never felt weird about my sandwich-eating until now. Will you forgive my hungry hippo habits? Scarfing’s forgivable, right?

d) If I were a hair product, I’d be this stuff from Aveda that keeps hair from getting staticky. Isn’t static hair the worst? Bangs glued to your forehead? Layers sticking to your cheeks? Yeah, I’d be the product that keeps that evil cling far, far away. That just inspired me to write a thank you note to the kind people of Aveda, so thank you.

e) Oh gosh, my favorite bagel is no longer in existence. Panera used to have this banana peanut butter crunch bagel that was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I’m talking “What About Bob?” oo-ing and ah-ing good. I made serious noises when I ate this bagel. Sadly it was discontinued, and my life’s not been the same since  Although Panera’s pink bagel, the one they sold for a limited time as awareness for breast cancer, was a close second. Good grief, what is it with me and limited-time offers? Fix me, please.

f) Something super interesting about me? I have a hot-plate at work to keep my mug of coffee or tea hot (one of the best gifts I’ve ever bought myself. Is that sad? No because it really improved my quality of life here at work). Well, I’ve fooled a few coworkers into thinking it’s a CD player, a waffle press, and (for about 5 minutes), a mini griddle so that I could cook myself a hot breakfast of pancakes at eggs right in my cubicle! Gosh, I love gullibility (yet another improvement to the quality of my work-life).

Jumpin J's Mom said...

d) a big fat hot pink scrunchy
e) salt with chocolate chip cream cheese
f) been to all seven continents

My favorite sweat pants are royal blue and they have the word SWIM printed across my bottom. Because I was a swimmer you know. But I think I would really enjoy a pair of mustard yellow sweat pants if I ever came across such a thing.

Marshmallows are marshmallows and keep um coming no matter the size is what I say!

I eat it all. I usually tear pieces of my peanut butter and honey sandwich (the only kind I ever pack for lunch) off from out of a baggie as I read a book paying no particular attention to which pieces I eat in which order.

Spray wax. I used to have short hair and I really enjoyed making my hair all crazy and skiwampus in the back via bed head spray wax.

Cinnamon crunch from Panera, but you can never go wrong with a plain bagel with plain cream cheese.

I have two (yes two) GREAT-newphews. As in I have a niece and a nephew you both have a child. OH, and I'm only 22. That's pretty interesting right?

Ha ha ha. I just found you, can't wait to go back over your old posts.

And sweat pants? Isn't that what frumpy old moms wear? Or 5 year old boys? So I guess I can't tell you my favorite color of sweat pants since I am neither of those.

Plus they're probably no where near as comfortable as my hot pink pajama pants.

anna said...

my favorite color of sweatpants is any color except mustard yellow. i look terrible in mustard yellow. and i look fabulous in sweatpants, btw.

I like mini marshmallows better. That way I can eat 50 of them while typing on the computer and not feed as bad as if I ate 50 full size.

The Allen Family said...

I eat the crust first. Gotta save the best for last - you know the middle part that has a taste of everything. It's just like pizza. I eat the crust first so I don't end up with just the boring crust taste in my mouth.

Hmmm.... a hair product? That's a tricky one.

Mousse? No, I may be white, but I don't like to think of myself as fluffy.

Hair Spray? Wet and sticky? No thank you. That describes my 2 year old at almost any time in the day.

Shampoo? Bubbly and clean? Perhaps.

A flat iron? Pretty dang hot? Maybe a couple days out of the year but my hot pink pajama pants probably don't allow that the other days.

Gel? Shiny and slick? I'll go with that.

Hello Nat- I have to say that even I, not an Oprah watcher (time not dislike per se)knew that you were breaking your cardinal rule of the good ole bloggity blog, so naturally I had to see what the kerfuffle was all about. I love that word, kerfuffle, don't you? So I will jump through hoops, and answer silly questions, for the sake of rule breaking and all, and just maybe I'll win.*hint to the Holbsdude,I'm not above flattery

1.Any color grey sweat pants
2. minis for cocoa and eating out of the bag, full size foe s'mores and marshmallow gun fights
3. crust first to save the good bites for last
4.does a rubber band for the ever so sensible ponytail count-cause that's what I'd be
5.bagels are delicious, I love a good everything bagel -turkey with all the fixins sandwich.
6.I learned to suture on chicken skin (dead) before I was allowed to try on human skin (both)

2. i don't like marshmallows! weird texture. but rice krispie treats all the way.
3. crust last if i eat them at all.
4. bumble and bumble coconut shampoo because it smells so good i want to eat it. and that's bad.
5. sourdough bagels. they are so good.
6. i have an insane amount of celebrity information stored away and it slips out when i least expect it. usually during movies and i have to tell somebody or they'll never know that jennifer garner and bradley cooper were in alias together and now they're both in valentine's day!

I don't want the ticket, but I can no longer lurk. Remember? We discussed this. So I will answer, and if I win TELL ME PLEASE so I can do a happy dance, and then pick someone else to win instead of me. :-)

a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?
Anything with a sporty stripe down the side to imply that I'm really about to do and/or just finished doing something exercisy.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?
Mini, for sure. They are way cuter and taste much better.

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?
First because then I just have wonderful sandwichy tastiness to look forward to.

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?
Definitely conditioner. I love, love the silky flowiness of my hair after conditioning.

e) Favorite bagel?
Changes depending on my mood, but sesame seed is probably my most often favorite.

f) Something else super interesting!
Ooh, the possibilities...

My minivan is in the shop today because after months and months of having a sliding door that I have to open (gasp) manually, my wonderful husband has decided to get it looked at. Now, what he means by looked at, I'm not sure. Does he mean looked at and evaluated and priced out? Or does he mean looked at and FIXED?

This interests me to no end, you see. And I cannot wait to find out. But I'm restraining myself from calling him at work because I want to be surprised when the van is returned to me. Fixed or not? Tis a nail-biting experience for me -- and I quit biting my nails when I was in first grade when I met a girl with amazingly long nails (turns out they were fake, but I didn't know that, and it inspired me to greatness).

Dede said...

All righty, let's see if I can win:-)
a) What is your preferred color of sweat pants?
Probably a dark blue, although anything comfy will do.

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?

Full size for me, baby.

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?

I eat them first so I can savor the soft middle

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?

Gosh I don't know. Probably a barrette.

e)Favorite bagel?
Asiago cheese bagels are the best!

f) Something else super interesting!
I am a very boring person...that's pretty interesting, isn't it?

Susan said...

I also cannot/would not attend the conference, but since I love your blog so much and your writing and I desperately would love to be you, if only for an hour or so, I'm going to answer your questions.

a) I don't even own a pair of sweat pants. Is this not sad? But if I did, I'd totally want them to be deep grey (or gray) or navy blue.

b) hmmm, it depends! Is that an acceptable answer? Cause if they are going in hot chocolate, then I totally want mini's. But for roasting over a campfire you need full size, or really, what would be the point?

c) Now that I can no longer eat wheat products, I don't get to eat sandwiches. But if I remember correctly, I think I ate the crust a little at a time, but left the last 3 or 4 bites to be all insides.

d) Shampoo - because everyone needs shampoo and I like to be needed.

e) Goes along with the wheat thing above, and all I ever ate were boring plain ones. No spread or anything either. Really boring, I know!

f) Something interesting? well, I read your blog every day. Is that good? I think so, because reading about your life and your thoughts makes me feel good about life in general. And nothing is better than that.

I so want to win those tickets! Because what a great way for an introvert to meet other introverts, but then we become extroverts because we are reaching beyond ourselves. Anyway, that was just sillines.

Black YOGA pants, not sweat.
Mini
Middle - no crust
Hairspray because I considered myself firm in my convictions
Favorite bagel - hands down...Parmesan bagel
If you want something else super interesting, you'll just have to come on over and read my blog.

How's that?

1. I do not discriminate against any color of sweatpants. I am madly in love with any/all sweatpants. Period. Any color.

2. I only eat roasted marshmallows. I have never even tried to roast mini-marshmallows but I can imagine that it would not go well.

3. I think that you should know that I am now addicted to peanut butter and honey on toast, crust and all, thanks to you. I can't stop eating them, and honestly, I don't really want to. Thanks for filling me in on this deliciousness.

NO idea
e) Favorite bagel?
Onion
f) Something else super interesting!

I am going to break trend and say that I don't have any sweatpants. Yoga pants on the other hand....Comfort incarnate! Preferably black or gray. Is it gray or grey? Does it matter? Oh, I also just read up the page and saw another Yoga pant lover. Yoga pants forever!

Also my favorite bagel has not come into my view for years. It was a salt bagel. Just a plain bagel with big salt all over it. Lovely!

And as far as sandwiches go, I prefer rolls to bread. But I am known for just inhaling food (For your own safety, keep your arms and legs away from the mouth at all times, thank you!), so if it is bread, it just gets eaten, crusts and all, in no particular order.

I'm sure there are super interesting things about me, but I'll just default to the fact that I have 7 kids, #8 is on the way, and I am a triathlon addict. And that turned me into a running junkie. Hey, a girl's gotta have at least one other hobby besides having babies! ; )

Rhonda Miller said...

Seriously. Didn't think a giveaway entry could make me feel like a loser, but this one does! Why? 'Cause I'm tall and lanky and there is not a sweatpant manufacturer on the face of the planet that understands "tall and lanky," therefore I don't own a pair of sweatpants! And the marshamallow thing? I think they're disgusting, except on s'mores, in which case I prefer the large 'cause the tiny would burn to nothingness in seconds. Sandwich crusts, really? I don't eat sandwiches. Yuck. And if I do, they have to be totally dry with no sauce or spread. So . . . so far I can't answer a single question! I used to have a favorite bagel (sandwich of all things - because they don't really qualify as a sandwich) and my friend would bring it back from 40 miles away when I was craving it due to a baby in the womb, but then the guy who owned the place embezzeled all the money his father-in-law had put up for the place, and so they shut it down and so I couldn't even get the bagel sandwich I loved! (Cranberry bagel with roasted turkey, avocado, chives, cucumbers, and sprouts.) Now the hair product, I can answer that one because I DO have hair. But I'll have to think about (far harder than this post warrants) exactly which product I'd be. So that leaves us with the "something interesting." For Pete's sake, I've got six kids running around non-stop so there's always interesting stuff going on but right now I've got two girls fighting about a key (in front of a friend no less) so I must sign off and just hope I WON'T be considered a LOSER, but be found a WINNER instead!

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all? Feed it to the dog.
d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be? The really awesome conditioner that give you that really good feeling, because who wouldnt want to give people that really good feeling.. you know?

my puurpple ones ... mmm

b) Mini marshmallow or full-size?
"I'm talking Olympic size" -- 2 much twilight?

c) When you eat a sandwich do you eat the crusts first, last, or not at all?
the crust gets eaten if there is meat beneath it, if not soorryy (esp if its a hotdog)

d) If you had to be a hair product, what would you be?
The creamy one that makes my hair fab & curly with just one squeeze, haven't found it yet though

Or, if that is just too much for you, I will giveaway my giveaway on my blog. Is that fair?

Anyway, I am going to tell you an interesting little story for my entry....

Harken back to the decade of the 70's...I know some of you can't harken back that far, but come along for the ride anyway.

Imagine a small little 1st grade class room with a little girl with two blonde corkscrew ponytails on either side of her head (again, for those of you who can remember and those who have access to TVland, think Cindy Brady.)

Said ponytailed girl was so very shy she would NOT TALK TO ANYONE. Being a Catholic school the teacher was Sister Ebba (complete with black habit and white wimple) and she was not going to have any mute child in her class. So, the formidable Sister schemed a plan to bribe ponytail girl with religious statues, rosaries, and the ultimate thrill of being able to sit next to her best friend all year.

Said little girl began speaking way back 30 some years ago and has not stopped to this day. And, yes, I do believe Sister just rolled over in her grave.

Yes, in case you are wondering, ponytail girl is me albeit sans ponytails at this stage in life.

And another thing Mr. Brandon Holbrook, I think all first time commentors should be omitted from the running! Is it really fair they only come out of the woodworks and show The Rat some love when she says Giveaaaaaaaaway? (I'm just sayin!)

Nat, i'm not sure as to HOW you come up with these questions, but after i read them, i think i figured it out.

I pictured you sitting in your studio, at your desk, typing away on your computer...while IN sweatpants, but really they most likley need to be replaced because they are old and really, you just wanted our advice on what new color YOU should get. Then you had to think of another question, so you looked around and what did you see? But your lunch! You are drinking a cup of hot chocolate and have marshmallows in it, so..another interesting question arose. You are also eating a PB&H and your crusts are sitting on the side of your plate, waiting to be either eaten or thown away. Another question. You also must have just gone shopping and still have your hair products sitting in the bag waiting to be put away and thought...what would i be if i could choose...no, what would MY READERS be?!?!?! So that question came to be...then...you noticed that your plate from this mornings bagle is still sitting on your desk, so you came up with that one. But, you felt that 5 questions is odd...so you asked one more, but you were tired of writing and just wanted to be done. So...what is interesting?!?!

I'm pretty sure that is how this went down.

I, like many others that commented, am not able to attend since i am not on your continent at this time, nor in the next year will i be, so i will not be participating in the contest. But just for fun, here are my answers to the questions.

A) Maroon - interesting fact, i do not wear maroon in any other piece of clothing, that color is reserved for sweat pants - never realized that till now.

B) I don't like to choose. I buy one of each bag and mix them. (well..i did, back when i was in the states and somewhere they HAD marshmallows)

C)If i am at home in private, i eat the crusts first, but if i am out at a restaurant, i eat them with the sandwhich like normal. However, no matter where i am, if the bread is more healthy then the rest of the sandwhich, i peel the crusts off and don't eat them.

D) The only hair products that i use is shampoo and conditioner. Hair spray and gel and that sort of stuff makes my hari greasy, so i just don't bother. But if i had to be one, i would choose...mousse. It has a job of holding things together, yet it's flexible at the same time. Just like me.

E) I play UNO everynight of the week. For an hour or two. We make up our own rules. I have come away with bruises and usually break a nail at least once a week. ;)

I'm super excited for you to speak! Congrats!

Well, since I just ate half a bag of mini marshmallows about 2 hours ago, I guess they would be my favorite!

Just in case the Holbs starts at the end I thought I'd throw another comment in. Currently I'm wearing light blue fleece sweats that also have teal, dark blue circles on them. And if you haven't guessed I really really want to go to CBC! I could bring you a portland care package- is there anything from here that you're missing that packs well?

I'm a pair of green sweats. I'm old so there's lots of those tiny little fuzz balls stuck to me. I'm faded. I'm extra snazzy because I have elastic around the waist AND the ankles. Can't beat that.
