It's Always When I Should Be Doing Something Else That This Happens

Confession time: I am in a relationship with an abuser. He is mean, he is tempermental . . . he is a hot glue gun. And I am obsessed with him. It really is an unhealthy relationship. Yes, the hot glue gun is an abusive lover, and I carry the scars of his burns on my fingers and arms. He apologizes and tells me he'll be better . . . And anyway it doesn't really hurt, it just sort of stings for a second! Except for the one on my wrist, that one kind of bubbled up all gnarly-like and honestly, it wasn't his fault! I try to leave him for the loving arms of my sewing machine; sweet, placid sewing machine, but that's not enough for me anymore! I crave the excitement, the danger! The . . . I don't know where I'm really going with this.

But you know those necklaces? With the crazy fabric rosebuds and the ric-rac and the cuteness but the holy price tag shock?

You do?

As soon as I took this I realized the bud placement was lopsided and fixed it. So, it's prettier now. Just use your imagination.

Well, I sort of made some. Or, like, a ton. I made a ton. Also hair clips and headbands and broaches. Because, that hot glue gun, man. It's hard to stop.

I tell you, he is dreamy. And dangerous! How do you turn down that kind of love, man? How?

Also it is dark here practically all day, making attractive photos almost impossible, and holing up and making another rosebud is a good way to stave off the S.A.D.-ness and depression.

And the hot glue gun, at least he loves me. I can tell he does.

Do you know what S.A.D. is?

You do?

Another rosebud will also keep my face out of a bowl of Cocoa Pebbles for a good ten minutes, at least. Isn't that something? The hot glue gun cares about my figure!

Will you take look at the boob discrepancy happening in these two photos?

Items in this photo are smaller than they may appear on your computer screen. (Much, much smaller.)

It really could make a person cry.

And anyway, do you know how hard it is to get a decent photo of a necklace while you are wearing it?

You do?

Oh.

***

As I am now up to my eyeballs in rosebuds,
I have but one question:

If I sold,
On the cheap,
Would you buy?

??

Indeed I do know what Seasonal Affective Disorder is. Just gave a presentation on it where I intern. They use light therapy to treat it. Did you know that? Works wonders for some in the winter months.

You had me chuckling over the boob commentary. On the bright side, when you are older you won't have saggy chesticles. That is how I look at my near extinct boobs.

why don't you send one to www.whatkatiewore.com and she can feature it on her blog. You never know - it might stir up some Christmas business.

Those little roses are so cute! I like hair clips, by the way ...

when i saw that first picture small in my dashboard, i thought they were cupcakes :/

but those are adorable!

Ummm....as a member of the big bust line society, I would love one, but it would have to be a single bud, maybe two at best. When ya got the big boobs, it's best to go understated in the neckline area.

would also like a headband/or clip or the like.

I wish I was craftier!

As for that glue gun non-sense, listen to this one, my little sister, for halloween, thought it would be a good idea to "hot glue" a bracelet for her costume to her arm! The dork burned the crap outta her self....and she and her glue gun are joined at the hip, it's not like she didn't REALIZE how hot those things are....so HOW hot gluing YOURSELF to fabric ever seemed like a good idea, that I'll never know!

Gorgeous! :) I'd buy were I not so broke. :/

Have you thought of putting just one rosebud on a chain like a pendant? That would be really cute too. :)

I also thought they were cupcakes in the first picture, and thought to my self "yummy".

Upon closer inspection I still find them yummy, I would absolutely buy one, or two :-) Love 'em

I too thought they were cupcakes. But honestly? I'm happier they're rosebuds. I'd buy some hair clips and/or headbands, if you got 'em!

I have a friend who has S.A.D. In the winter months, he uses light therapy, as Lars said. I've always wanted to see his special light setup, but been too shy to ask.

Sorry, no can do. I am also in the BBLS with HeatherLynn. I ALSO thought they were cupcakes at a glance!Yep. I know what SAD is. I lived in Alaska for a year, and I hung Christmas lights in my room all winter long to help cheer me up. The sun rose at 10 and fell at 4 and I worked 9-5. :( I have really appreciated the sunshine here for the past several days, and while some may be missing the snow for Thanksgiving, that would not be me.

OH! And how about Donny Osmond winning DWTS! Woo-Hoo! They sure dragged that out, but hey, you can watch the glorious moment online if you missed it. He's such a good man!

Very cute! Crafting and cleaning help keep that S.A.D. away for me!

Totally cute! I want a hot glue gun! And I have to admit that the first picture, before my brain focused, made me think of cupcakes! :) I smiled.

Guys! Thanks for the ideas and the support! I'm on it!

Natalie, I've wanted a rosebud something to wear ever since I first saw one on the interweb. Except I don't wanna pay through the nose, see. So when you say "If sold on the cheap, would you buy?" the answer is, of course AYCH YES! Probably in a few varieties. Keep me posted, you!

Umm, I think I kind of understand what you're saying about Mr. Gluegun. I burn the nerves right off my fingertips every time I use one, but, dang, Mr. Gluegun does the job like nothing else can, doesn't he? -The fortunate thing for my fingers is that I'm not uber crafty. But see, that's also the unfortunate thing for my soul. I'd love to be crafty...

Great post. Again.

Happy Thanksgiving, NatTheRatPack! :)

I thought it was cupcakes too! The boob thing is really quite a discrepancy and I know how you feel. Just wait until your little one gets here (WHEN it happens :]) then you will have some! Great job on the roses, are you going to post a how to?

ForeverRhonda said...

Would definitely buy! I too thought they were cupcakes on top! *note to self* invest in hot glue gun...
